This was a very successful year for Sweet Thunder!  It started off well with the girls all getting nice, new uniforms.  They all looked very good out there on the field, and I know they were more comfortable and cooler than the old t-shirts.  There were 10, 12, 14, & 16 under teams this year, and they all enjoyed the chance to play some competitive softball.
The 10 & under team made it to 3 tournaments and got to learn what its like to play multiple games on hot summer days.  They didn't make the trip to the state tournament this year, but they will be ready to compete next year.
The 12 & under team was a young team this year, but showed they can play with anyone as they went to 5 tournaments and then competed at state in Salina.  They had a good season winning a lot of games.  At state they won their first game and things were looking good for them, then they had a couple tough games and ended up going 2-1 to place them 9th in the state.
The 14u team was coming off a good season last year and hoped to build on that this year.  The goal was to play in some tougher tournaments hoping to see some tougher competition and be ready to play and place at state.  They played a lot of games going 26-17-1, and they played well all season.  They won their state qualifier to put them in the gold division at state for the first time with this team, and they finished the season strong and were headed to state in Topeka confident.  State didn't go as planned with them going 1-2 losing one game 0-1, and losing the 2nd game to a team they had already beaten twice this season.  As of 8/1/07, almost 2 weeks after the tournament, final results hadn't been posted on the ASA website.
The 16 under team played well all year going 29-5, undefeated winning their last 3 tournaments, and headed to state @ Emporia with a 15 game win streak.  They stayed hot at state and went 4-1 to bring home a state championship.  Congratulations to all the girls and especially the 16u state champs on a great season.  Now its time to get ready for next year!!!!
